Wales now has a website built from the ground up around artificial intelligence, the Welsh language, and local life. a.wales — tagline “the smartest AI for Wales” — is being recognised as the first dedicated AI website for the country, giving residents, businesses and organisations in Caerphilly County Borough and across South Wales a place to ask questions, generate ideas and work in both Welsh and English.
The site is not a generic chatbot wrapped in a .wales domain. It is a local hub for Cardiff, the Valleys, South Wales and the rest of the country: a practical tool for people who need answers that understand Welsh place names, public services, culture and everyday context that global platforms often miss.
Sister coverage on digital.wales first flagged the launch in July 2026. Caerphilly.co.uk is now placing the same story on the front of the local portal, because the project sits in the same South Wales network as care.wales, properties.wales and solicitors.wales.
Why “first AI website for Wales” matters
AI tools have arrived everywhere. What has been slower to arrive is a public-facing website whose primary job is AI for Wales — not a Welsh translation as an afterthought.
a.wales was created as a response to that gap. Many AI products are built for global markets and are weak on Welsh context, language and local needs.
“a.wales is a purpose-built AI website focused on Wales — a local hub for Cardiff, the Valleys, South Wales and the whole country.” — a.wales, About
What people in Caerphilly can use it for
- Bilingual AI chat — fast help in Welsh and English.
- Image and video generation — for ideas, education, tourism and business.
- Local focus — answers aimed at Welsh needs and context.
- Practical access — start chatting free, or view plans.
Independent, not official
a.wales is an independent project. It is not part of Welsh Government or Caerphilly County Borough Council, and it does not give official advice. AI can make mistakes — treat outputs as assistance, not final truth.
